Pastor Chris Okafor, the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, also known as Grace Nation Liberation City, has initiated a strong legal offensive against social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, and an individual identified as Ms. Chi. Okafor’s legal representatives issued a press statement today, outlining threats of a lawsuit over alleged cyber incitement, bullying, harassment, stalking, criminal defamation, and malicious acts of impostor. The pastor’s legal team asserts these actions have severely damaged his reputation and ministry.
The core of the dispute revolves around claims made by Ms. Chi Okafor, who has publicly presented herself as Pastor Okafor’s biological daughter, accusing him of abandonment and neglect of paternal responsibilities. These allegations, widely circulated across various social media platforms, have been vehemently denied by Pastor Okafor through his legal counsel. His lawyers contend that the claims are “frantically untrue, misleading, malicious, inciting, and injurious” to their client’s character.
Martins Vincent Otse, operating under the moniker Verydarkman, is specifically accused of using his extensive social media reach, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, to continuously harass, defame, and incite public opinion against Pastor Okafor. The legal team highlighted Otse’s alleged role in unlawfully publishing an interview with Ms. Chi, amplifying her unverified claims without attempting to contact Pastor Okafor for his side of the story. This conduct, they argue, amounts to “criminal defamation” perpetrated under the guise of activism, aimed at destroying the pastor and his ministry.
Initially, Pastor Okafor considered not engaging with what he perceived as “characterless, jobless agents of destruction,” believing their actions were orchestrated by those seeking to undermine his ministry. However, the persistent and widely disseminated false claims regarding his paternity and alleged abandonment by Ms. Chi Okafor compelled him to issue a formal response. His legal team stated that the decision was made to “put the record straight” and counter the deliberate misinformation.
The press briefing provided a detailed account of Pastor Okafor’s past, clarifying the circumstances surrounding the alleged paternal link. His lawyers recounted that many years ago, during his early pastoral career, a woman approached him claiming to be pregnant with his child. As a “responsible and respected young gospel preacher,” Pastor Okafor accepted responsibility and subsequently married the woman, with whom he later had two children, continuing to support them as a father.
A critical turning point in the relationship emerged when Pastor Okafor was reportedly kidnapped and held captive for approximately 50 days. During this harrowing period, his abductors contacted his supposed wife for ransom, but she allegedly denied knowing him. Members of Okafor’s extended family intervened, raising funds which were reportedly given to the wife to secure his release. However, his lawyers claim the woman diverted the money, leaving the kidnappers in a difficult situation. Pastor Okafor was eventually released through “divine intervention and mercy,” without assistance from his wife.
Following his release, Pastor Okafor confronted his wife regarding her alleged neglect during his abduction. During a heated argument, he questioned her sincerity and love, prompting her to utter a startling comment: “do you even think that children of this marriage are yours?” This assertion, coupled with an earlier similar remark, led Pastor Okafor to demand a paternity DNA test to ascertain the biological fatherhood of the children.
The subsequent DNA test delivered a “shocking” result, according to the legal statement: the test returned negative, conclusively indicating that neither the first nor the second child was biologically his. Pastor Okafor’s lawyers affirmed that the certificate of this DNA test is currently in the possession of the “Impostors’ mother,” and they challenge the estranged wife to produce the said certificate or test result. This definitive finding led to the immediate dissolution of the marriage, with both parties severing personal ties.
Despite the conclusive DNA findings and the end of the marriage, Pastor Okafor, “purely out of compassion and goodwill,” continued to provide financial support for the children’s education and general welfare. This assistance extended to their careers in Canada and the United Kingdom. His legal team stressed that this gesture should “not be misrepresented as acknowledgment of paternity,” underscoring that any claims of abandonment are “false, misleading, disparaging, cyber bullying, and defamatory.”
Consequently, Pastor Okafor’s legal representatives have issued a formal demand for the immediate retraction of all false, defamatory, and misleading statements published online or elsewhere. They also require an apology to be published in two national dailies, with a copy sent to relevant authorities. Furthermore, they demand an end to any implication of a familial relationship with Okafor and the removal of all content falsely associating him with paternity claims or abandonment.
