Niger State officials have taken a significant step forward in the development of a new trailer park in Mokwa, a project aimed at bolstering economic growth under Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s administration. The Director General of the Niger State Industrial Park Development Agency (NSIPDA), Alhaji Baba Kudu Mohamed, led a delegation to Mokwa to identify suitable locations for the facility. This initiative is part of the broader “New Niger Agenda”.
The inspection tour, which occurred on Saturday, December 27, 2025, involved key figures from NSIPDA, including the Head of Administration, Mallam Suleman Idris. The delegation’s visit underscored the state’s commitment to tangible development projects designed to attract investment and create employment opportunities within the region.
During their visit, the NSIPDA team paid a courtesy call to the traditional leadership of Mokwa. They were received by Mallam Ahmed Sonfada, the Sofada of Ndalile, who represented the Ndalile of Mokwa, Alhaji Shaba. Other prominent community and political leaders present included Mallam Usman Jiya, the Guye Shatsu of Ndalile, and Hon. Dauda Liman, the former Secretary of the Mokwa Local Government Council.
Mallam Ahmed Sonfada presented three potential sites for the trailer park, advocating strongly for one location due to its exceptional strategic advantages. This preferred site, situated in the northern part of Mokwa near the Kontagora–Bida junction, spans approximately 4,500 hectares. Crucially, the land is government-owned and was previously utilized by National Greenland Limited, mitigating potential compensation issues.
Alhaji Baba Kudu Mohamed expressed gratitude for the community’s reception and valuable input. He assured stakeholders that the agency would promptly initiate a search for official documentation pertaining to the recommended site. The Director General also revealed that Truck Transit Park Limited (TTP), a prominent investment firm, is slated to develop the Mokwa Trailer Park and is preparing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the state government.
Mohamed emphasized the significant economic benefits this project is expected to yield, projecting the creation of thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities for the local populace. He urged the people of Mokwa to provide full cooperation to both the investors and the state government to ensure the project’s success.
The NSIPDA is scheduled to return to Mokwa in the second week of January 2026, accompanied by representatives from TTP. This follow-up visit will focus on a final site inspection, marking another crucial phase in the realization of the Mokwa Trailer Park.
