Iconic Le Mans Dunlop Bridge Renamed Goodyear Bridge

A significant landmark at the famed Circuit de la Sarthe is set to undergo a rebrand, marking the end of an era for motorsport enthusiasts. The iconic Dunlop Bridge, a long-standing symbol of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be renamed the Goodyear Bridge as part of a broader enhancement of the spectator experience.

The Dunlop Bridge, situated above the chicane of the same name, has served as a crucial pedestrian crossing for spectators for a century, connecting the paddock to the outer perimeter of the circuit. Its name has become synonymous with the historic endurance race, holding deep resonance for fans and participants alike.

This renaming is tied to extensive renovations and modernizations planned for the bridge, which will preserve its existing structure while ushering in a new identity. The move reflects a strategic partnership and a desire to align key circuit features with prominent motorsport brands.

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), organizers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has announced a series of upgrades to the Bugatti Circuit site. These include a complete renovation of the Goodyear Racing Club and the Goodyear grandstand, further integrating the Goodyear brand into the race venue.

This evolution is also linked to the recent sale of the Dunlop brand, formerly part of the Goodyear group, to Sumitomo Rubber Industries. This corporate shift has paved the way for Goodyear to strengthen its presence and naming rights at key motorsport locations.

Organizers stated that memorabilia from the Dunlop Bridge will be donated to the 24 Hours Museum to preserve its historical significance. These changes are presented as a commitment by the ACO to protect the race’s heritage while embracing future developments.

Goodyear views the renaming as a testament to its enduring legacy in motorsport and its commitment to endurance racing. The company highlighted its long history at Le Mans, including its first victory 60 years ago, and the 45th anniversary of its Eagle tire range.

This rebranding signifies Goodyear’s intensified focus on motorsport, including the recent return of the Goodyear Blimp to the skies over La Sarthe. The enhanced visibility on the circuit underscores their vision for innovation and their passion for racing.
