Fuji music maestro Wasiu Ayinde, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, has initiated legal action against Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and five other respondents. The prominent musician is seeking an interim injunction from the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode to halt any further steps in the installation process of the new Awujale of Ijebuland.

The lawsuit names the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House as co-respondents. The legal challenge stems from K1’s claim to the vacant Awujale stool, asserting his lineage from the Jadiara Royal House within the broader Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

However, K1’s claim has been contested by the ruling family, who have publicly stated that the Olori Omoba of Ijebuland lacks any ancestral connection to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. This familial dispute forms the crux of the legal battle, as the traditional succession is under scrutiny.

The application, filed as a motion ex parte before High Court 2 under Suit No: HC3/238/2025, invokes specific rules of the Ogun State High Court and constitutional provisions. It requests the court to prevent the respondents from proceeding with any selection or installation activities for the Awujale position until the substantive suit is heard and determined.

K1’s legal team argues that the interim injunction is crucial to safeguard his interests and ensure that the subject matter of the lawsuit is not compromised or altered before a final judicial decision is reached. The musician’s pursuit of the traditional title has now entered a significant legal phase.
