Fintiri to Adamawa Youths: Ditch the Either/Or on Education

The Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, recently addressed young people in Qur’anic schools. His message? Embrace Western education. He believes this mix is key for a balanced life and real contribution to Nigeria.

Speaking at the Adamawa State Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition, Fintiri, through Commissioner Abdullahi Prambe, lauded dedication to Islamic values. Yet, he pushed for broadened horizons. This call comes as many Northern youths find themselves limited by solely Islamic education, a barrier to many jobs.

Fintiri stressed a changing landscape. Adamawa now offers pathways to merge Qur’anic scholarship with Western learning. Plenty of schools are already doing it.

Our youths must grab this opportunity. Qur’anic knowledge nourishes the soul. Western education sharpens the mind. Both are needed to build our state’s future. It’s that simple.
