The Airport Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) in Rivers State has lauded Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, the Customs Area Controller for Customs Area 1 Command, for her exceptional performance in stakeholder engagement and trade facilitation. This commendation was delivered at an end-of-year gathering attended by key industry figures.
Charles Onyema, the ANLCA chapter leader, highlighted the significantly improved operational environment, noting a “very cordial relationship” among all entities within the port ecosystem. He stated that operations at the airport have become notably seamless, attributing this progress to the controller’s leadership and collaborative approach.
Beyond fostering a robust business climate, Comptroller Atuluku is undertaking the construction of a new ANLCA Secretariat. This facility, designed to be a fitting base for the association’s activities, is nearing completion and is slated for commissioning by the ANLCA national president. The project signifies a commitment to enhancing the infrastructure supporting customs brokerage.
Mr. Onyema emphasized a transformative shift since Comptroller Atuluku assumed office. He described her tenure as a “different ball game,” characterized by enhanced trade facilitation and a marked increase in revenue generation for the command. This progress has been met with widespread approval from agents operating within the jurisdiction.
Drawing a maternal analogy, Mr. Onyema described the controller as a “mother” figure, suggesting her leadership style brings compassion and care to the often-challenging logistics sector. He praised her adeptness in balancing the needs of stakeholders while ensuring efficient revenue collection and smooth cargo movement.
Looking ahead, Mr. Onyema expressed optimism for the future, anticipating an improved landscape for his members in 2026. He also stressed the importance of financial discipline among agents, advising them to prepare for potential economic fluctuations and ensure their long-term sustainability in the industry.
