Bruno Fernandes Reveals Manchester United Wanted Him to Leave

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed that the club actively sought to facilitate his departure to Saudi Arabia during the recent transfer window, a move he ultimately rejected.

Fernandes’ candid remarks followed Manchester United’s dramatic 4-4 draw against Bournemouth on Monday night. The Portuguese international scored a spectacular free-kick in the match, but his post-game comments focused on his own transfer situation and his feelings about the club’s actions.

He stated that while he is well-compensated at Old Trafford, the financial offers from Saudi Arabia were substantial. However, Fernandes insisted that money has never been his primary motivation, and he has consistently prioritized his commitment to Manchester United.

“I felt a bit like, ‘If you leave, it’s not so bad for us,'” Fernandes told Canal 11, expressing his disappointment. He explained that he informed the club directors of his feelings, but suggested they lacked the courage to make a definitive decision.

Fernandes elaborated on his emotional response, saying the situation makes him “sad.” He contrasted his own dedication with that of some teammates, noting that some players do not value or defend the club as much as he believes they should.

In other transfer news, Manchester United are reportedly monitoring two Bournemouth midfielders. Tyler Adams, who has impressed in the Cherries’ engine room, is said to be on their radar with an estimated price tag of £40 million.

Additionally, young English talent Alex Scott is also understood to be attracting attention from United scouts. The 22-year-old midfielder is reportedly valued between £25 million and £30 million, though his recent injury could impact any potential January move.

The club’s pursuit of these Bournemouth players suggests a potential midfield revamp in the upcoming transfer window, with manager Erik ten Hag looking to strengthen his squad.
