Benue Assembly Cracks Down: Ex-Leaders Suspended

The Benue State House of Assembly just dropped the hammer. Two former top dogs are out, suspended for what’s being called “gross misconduct.” I’m talking about the ex-Majority Leader, Saater Tiseer, and former Minority Leader, Michael Audu.

Six months for Tiseer. Three for Audu. What happened?

Apparently, an ad-hoc committee dug up some dirt. These guys allegedly abused their positions for personal enrichment. Not a good look. The current Majority Leader, Thomas Dugeri, pulled no punches, arguing their actions dragged the whole Assembly’s name through the mud. And, you know, he’s not wrong.

One legislator, Dr. Elias Audu, chimed in that this impacts the whole state. Stability is key. He even suggested a deeper dive, pushing for a special committee to work with the Ethics Committee and dig deeper.

Speaker Alfred Emberga gaveled it home, stating this serves as a lesson. The goal? Protecting the House’s reputation. I’ve seen this play out before. This isn’t just about punishing individuals. It’s about sending a message. Accountability matters.
