Alex Scott misses I’m a Celebrity events due to partner’s family emergency

Former England footballer Alex Scott has been forced to miss the “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” finale and subsequent reunion show following a severe stroke suffered by her partner Jess Glynne’s mother. The family emergency required urgent brain surgery, prompting Scott to remain by her girlfriend’s side during this critical period. Scott’s absence from the televised reunion means she will not reconnect with her fellow campmates as planned.

Scott was the first contestant to be eliminated from the jungle camp. Upon her return to the UK, she was reunited with Glynne under distressing circumstances. Glynne publicly shared the news on social media, explaining the severity of her mother’s stroke and the subsequent need for immediate surgical intervention. This has made it a profoundly challenging time for her family.

Glynne expressed her understanding of Scott’s commitments, stating that Alex would prioritize being where she is most needed. She conveyed her anticipation for Scott’s return, highlighting the importance of their partnership during this difficult phase. The singer emphasized that Scott’s presence and support are invaluable to her and her family right now.

Prior to these events, Scott had spoken positively about her experience on the reality show, describing it as an incredible and mentally demanding adventure. She admitted to struggling at times with homesickness but expressed gratitude for the strong bonds formed with her fellow contestants. Scott had anticipated reconnecting with them after the show concluded.

However, Scott has also voiced some dissatisfaction with how her time in the jungle was portrayed. She revealed on a television appearance that she felt the program did not fully showcase her personality, particularly her fun-loving side and the camaraderie she experienced. Scott believes more of her engaging interactions and playful moments were edited out of the final broadcast.

Scott specifically mentioned her close bond with fellow campmate Shona McGarty, feeling that their connection and McGarty’s personal journey, including her struggles with anxiety, were not adequately represented. Scott expressed a desire for viewers to have seen this more authentic and fun aspect of her personality on screen.

Her inability to attend the final episode and the post-show wrap party underscores the seriousness of the family situation. Scott indicated that while she wished to celebrate with her fellow contestants, her priority is to support Glynne. She conveyed her deep appreciation for the understanding and support shown by her campmates and the ITV production team during this ordeal.

The “I’m a Celebrity Coming Out” programme, which documents the campmates’ return home, was scheduled to air shortly after the finale. Scott’s participation in this segment, and any subsequent reunion events, is now highly unlikely due to her commitment to her partner and her family’s urgent health concerns.
