George Clooney Mourns Sister Adelia Zeidler’s Death at 65

Renowned actor George Clooney has publicly mourned the loss of his sister, Adelia “Ada” Zeidler, who passed away at the age of 65 following a battle with cancer. Clooney shared a heartfelt tribute, describing his late sister as “my hero” and commending her “courage and humor” in confronting the disease. He stated to People magazine that he had “never met anyone so brave” and that both he and his wife, Amal Clooney, would “miss her terribly.”

Adelia Zeidler died peacefully at her home in Edgewood, Kentucky, surrounded by her loved ones. Her obituary indicated that a funeral service is scheduled for Monday, with the family suggesting memorials be directed to the Knoedler Memorial Library in Augusta. Zeidler was born in Los Angeles in 1960 to Nick Clooney and Nina Bruce Warren, embarking on a life that, while largely private, was rich with personal achievements and familial connections.

Zeidler’s professional life included a period as an elementary art teacher at Augusta Independent School, where she shared her artistic talents with young students. Her academic prowess was recognized early on, as she qualified as a National Merit Scholar during her high school years. Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, she nurtured a love for literature, participating in a local book club and demonstrating her commitment to her community by serving as a past grand marshal of Augusta’s Annual White Christmas Parade.

After attending college in Louisville, Kentucky, Zeidler worked as a bookkeeper. She married Norman Zeidler, a retired army captain, in Augusta, Kentucky, in 1987. The wedding was a significant family occasion, with her brother George reading scripture and their aunt, the celebrated singer Rosemary Clooney, performing a song. Her husband, Norman, tragically passed away in 2004 from a heart attack, a loss she navigated while maintaining strong family bonds.

Despite George Clooney’s global fame, Adelia Zeidler maintained a close relationship with her younger brother, largely staying out of the public spotlight. She was a notable attendee at his 2014 wedding to Amal Alamuddin in Venice, Italy, a testament to their enduring sibling connection. In a 2012 interview, she humorously alluded to their communication preferences, admitting she kept his phone number private to prevent misuse, preferring email for its convenience.

Adelia Zeidler is survived by her two children, Nick Zeidler and Allison Zeidler Herolaga, and her husband Kenny. She also leaves behind her brother George Clooney and his wife Amal, along with several other cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her passing marks a profound loss for her family, who remember her as a courageous and loving individual.
