Osun Army Training Depot Graduates First Recruits

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has lauded the Federal Government and the Nigerian Army for the establishment of a crucial training depot in the state. The governor officially welcomed the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the upcoming Passing Out Parade (POP) of the inaugural batch of recruits.

This significant development aligns with a presidential directive to bolster national security and enhance the country’s defense capabilities. The establishment of the depot marks a pivotal moment in the Nigerian Army’s efforts to expand its training infrastructure and develop essential manpower.

The Chief of Army Staff made a courtesy visit to Governor Adeleke in Osogbo as part of the preparatory activities for the historic graduation ceremony. The POP is slated for December 20, 2025, signifying a new chapter in the Army’s operational readiness and recruitment drive.

Lieutenant General Shaibu acknowledged the vital support and cooperation extended by the Osun State Government, which proved instrumental in the successful establishment of the training facility. He emphasized that the depot is a strategic national asset, enhancing the Army’s capacity and contributing to youth empowerment and overall national stability.

Governor Adeleke expressed his deep gratitude to the Nigerian Army for choosing Osun State to host the depot. He described the graduation of the first set of recruits as a momentous occasion for the state and pledged continued support from the state government to the Army and other security agencies.

The Passing Out Parade is expected to showcase precision drills and troop inspections, symbolizing the successful completion of basic military training. The graduating recruits are now deemed ready to actively participate in ongoing operations across the nation.
