Putin Asserts War Goals Will Be Met Amid Nuclear Arms Claims

Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that his nation’s military objectives in Ukraine “will certainly be achieved,” as escalating geopolitical tensions fuel fears of a wider global conflict. In a significant address, Putin also highlighted Russia’s advanced nuclear arsenal, asserting its superiority over other nuclear powers and underscoring the country’s readiness for potential confrontation.

Speaking at a meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry Board, Putin detailed progress in what he termed the “special military operation,” claiming over 300 settlements, including fortified urban centers, have been “liberated.” These statements come as Western nations, including the UK, are reportedly preparing for potential scenarios involving increased Russian aggression, with military leaders emphasizing the need for public readiness and potential sacrifice.

Putin’s remarks pointed to a sustained effort in strengthening Russia’s armed forces, focusing on enhancements to combat readiness, command structures, and operational training. He specifically mentioned the successful testing of advanced weaponry, including the Burevestnik strategic cruise missile and the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle, with further refinements planned.

The Russian leader also announced that the Oreshnik medium-range missile system is slated for combat duty by the end of the year. These developments are presented within the context of what Putin described as a tense and increasingly critical global geopolitical situation, with NATO countries actively modernizing and expanding their offensive capabilities.

Putin accused NATO members of actively building up and modernizing their offensive forces, including deploying new weapons systems and engaging in space-based military developments. He alleged continuous large-scale military assistance to Ukraine, including advisors, instructors, mercenaries, and the provision of intelligence data.

Furthermore, Putin criticized European political figures, suggesting they are prioritizing fleeting personal or group interests over national welfare. He emphasized the strategic importance of Russia’s nuclear forces in deterring aggression and maintaining global power balance, asserting that 92% of Russia’s nuclear deterrent is modern, a claim he stated surpasses that of any other nuclear power.
