Nick Reiner has been formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office announced Tuesday.

The charges include a special circumstance of multiple murders, along with an allegation that Reiner personally used a deadly weapon, specifically a knife, in the commission of the crimes. This development follows his arrest on Sunday after the couple was discovered deceased in their California home.

Reiner is currently undergoing medical clearance at a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department jail. Once cleared, he is expected to appear in court for arraignment, where he will enter a plea. District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated that the legal process will proceed once Reiner is medically fit to attend court.

Prior to the fatal incident, Nick Reiner reportedly attended a Christmas party with his parents the day before their deaths. Sources indicated that his behavior at the gathering was disruptive, causing concern among other attendees.
