Grinch Steals McDonald’s Menu

McDonald’s holiday menu is here, and it’s feeling a bit Grinchy. Starting December 2nd, the fast-food giant is launching a Grinch Meal in the US, following its debut in Canada and Australia. This time, they’re including Dill Pickle “Grinch Salt” McShaker Fries. You get a bag of fries plus a packet of dill pickle seasoning, meaning you control the sour. Clever.

The meal also gets you a Big Mac or 10-piece McNuggets, a drink, plus a pair of themed socks. Prices will shift depending on location.

McDonald’s is hyping the launch. The CMO is quoted talking about “embracing your inner Grinch.” Fans seem particularly excited about the McShaker Fries finally arriving stateside after years of yearning. You see a lot of social media buzz about them.

But is this just another calculated move? The timing feels right. McDonald’s saw sales jump after the Snack Wrap comeback. They’ve been actively pushing value menus and running promotions like the Monopoly game. Seasonal items like the Holiday Pie also boost profits.

It makes you wonder: Is the Grinch Meal born out of genuine holiday cheer or a strategic push to maximize Q4 earnings? Probably a little of both. McDonald’s understands how to create hype around limited-time offerings, and the nostalgia factor certainly plays a role. Still, I’m curious to see if this one sticks. Will those dill pickle fries be a hit, or just a flash in the pan? We’ll find out soon enough. Either way, McDonald’s is doing what it does best: giving people what they think they want, right when they want it.
