Jigawa Pensioners Advocate for ₦32,000 Minimum Pension

The Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Jigawa State chapter, has publicly urged the state government to adopt the ₦32,000 minimum pension recently approved nationwide. This request aims to improve the lives of elderly pensioners.

Mallam Umar Sani Babura, Chairman of the Association, voiced this appeal during a radio program in Jigawa. He confirmed that the Union had formally submitted its request, aligning with the President’s national directive.

Babura passionately appealed to Governor Umar Namadi. He asked the governor to favorably consider this new minimum pension, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on pensioners and their families. It would really make a difference.

“We truly believe Governor Namadi will approve this as soon as the committee finalizes its report,” he stated optimistically.

Furthermore, the Chairman mentioned that the state had already screened pensioners statewide, preparing for the prompt implementation of the minimum pension. That’s encouraging news.

Babura also made a plea to include pensioners in key government initiatives. Specifically, he mentioned empowerment programs focused on agriculture and also palliative care. Give them a chance to participate.

Lastly, he requested a vehicle for the association. This will greatly improve the efficiency of their work for the pensioners.
